Our 3rd annual Hoops Basketball Tournament Fundraiser was a resounding success, met with bright sunshine, fierce but friendly competition among 9 dedicated teams, 20 energetic kids in the Knock Out contest, and countless spectators cheering everyone on.
The day was kicked off by Jean Card, Host Parent of the late Asa Masai Palmer. Asa, who unexpectedly passed away in June, was a two-time Emmy Award winner who left an incredible mark on everyone he met. Smiling through tears, Jean wore Asa’s Daniel Hand basketball jersey, #24, emphasizing the true importance of Madison A Better Chance. This organization opens doors for gifted young men of color to achieve great things, just as Asa did. He worked hard, played hard, and loved hard, and he is missed beyond words.
From that powerful start, the games began! Youth and adult teams battled for the gold, creating an afternoon filled with laughter and appreciation for skill, grit, and good sportsmanship.
Your support directly fuels this success. None of this would be possible without our generous sponsors. Their contributions made the event a triumph, helping us achieve record-breaking donations and ensuring Madison ABC thrives in our community. We look forward to sharing exactly how we put those dollars to good use for our scholars.
